On this Independence Day weekend, we remember those who helped to win our liberty. Some people gave their lives for our freedom. Others gave up bacon, cars, worked on assembly lines. Everyone had a part in independence even if they didn’t go to the front lines with a gun.
Jesus gives us all a part in his mission to bring spiritual freedom and love to the world. Some may be called to be missionaries or pastors; others to lead in congregations; some to give large amounts of money; others to support this mission effort with prayers and faith and tithes, with everyday deeds of love. Even a cup of cold water to support and encourage others is a big deal.
Freedom, as they say, is not free, either political or spiritual. We all have a part to play until everyone is free.
